Battery for CB certificate must pass safety standards for testing

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Starting next year (October 26, 2010), battery products who wish to obtain CB certificate, except in accordance with UL 1642 test, we need to undertake additional testing to ensure that they meet safety standards IEC 62133 battery requirements. In particular after the end of the transitional period, from June 27, 2011 onwards, IEC 62133 standard will completely replace the UL 1642, Battery CB products made only in line with IEC 62133 certification requirements.

As we all know, the battery used improperly, can cause accidents such as burns and fires. In recent years, the battery safety incidents are frequently reported, the United States, Japan, Russia and other countries are mandatory for the battery in accordance with specific standards for testing. China is a battery-exporting countries, accounting for more than half of the world production yields. In recent years, Ningbo battery industry developed rapidly, the emergence of hundreds of manufacturing enterprises export a lot of well-known brands, has become a fairly large-scale dell laptop ac adapter battery production base in Zhejiang Province, from January to October this year, 235 million batteries have been successfully exports to the United States, the European Union, Japan, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and other countries and regions.

Battery industry is at a crucial stage of structural upgrading, and actively expand the export market is significant. Inspection and quarantine experts pointed out that to obtain batteries CB certificate required by the importing country in the application of other certificates, may waive or reduce the sending sample test, greatly reduce the cycle to enter the market, reduce costs and speed up exports. The IEC 62133 standard consists mainly of batteries and battery test project, due to the digital camera battery manufacturing and the complexity of testing finished products, the battery manufacturers in the detection of pre-certification should have a thorough understanding of the standard details and in production control, such as batteries design considerations of resistance continued to charge the ability to avoid detection in the final because they do not meet the IEC 62133 standard requirements to discourage exports.

Battery technology break through difficulty of smart phones development

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Smart phones are becoming more intense competition in the market. As previously we have reported a growing number of smart phone operating system in their efforts to expand its market share, while the manufacturers are also working to improve their market share in smart phones. A growing number of smart phones available, and their more powerful, more and more high profile, all have shown that smart phone market is growing rapidly.

However, the smart phone does not develop in a smooth sailing. Despite the rapid development of science and technology, more and more application of new technologies to the mobile space has been greatly improved user experience, but there are still some bottlenecks in the mobile phone technology. VGP-BPS8A  battery technology is one of the most important aspect.

Compared with ordinary mobile phones, smart phones tend to have higher than normal cell phone hardware configuration, but with more features smart phones have a greater frequency of use. This means that the smart phone’s power consumption is correspondingly greater. With the large size of the touch screen to become mainstream, more and more Internet-based applications, smart phones also continue to increase electricity consumption trend.

Inconsistent with this development is the cell phone VGP-BPS9 battery technology has not made any major breakthrough. The current smart phone battery capacity and a few years ago to enhance the range is rather limited, their life is difficult to satisfaction of users. According to the author knowledge, there are many smart phone users need to charge the battery every day.

Nokia Research Center Henry Tirri said in an interview in the near future, we must go through several years, breakthroughs in related technologies, the smart phone’s battery life is possible to achieve “good” level. Henry Tirri that, smart mobile phone batteries “good” level refers to the ability to use a single charge of about a week, but now many high-end large-screen smart machine less than eight hours of continuous use.

The short term cell phone battery technology, there is no breakthrough

Deficiencies in battery technology for operators and manufacturers have an effect. Users may hesitate whether to buy a standby time is very short smart phone, but it also limits the use of smart phone users to engage in more Internet applications.

Henry Tirri said that as the phone’s basic function is to voice and information, so prior to the study on the cell phone power management is mainly directed against both be optimized. But in the past two years, with the rapid development of mobile phone technology, the emergence of a greater power consumption and faster processors and larger brighter screens, and with the “cloud” concept generation, a large number of applications need connected to the Internet server, which also takes a lot of power, however, the VGP-BPS9/B battery does not keep pace with this trend study.

Due to the limited size and taking into account safety factors, the current capacity of lithium batteries used in mobile phones is difficult to have too much to upgrade, handset manufacturers and battery manufacturers are researching new battery technologies, including the use of solar energy, kinetic energy and so on. However, at present these technologies have no real breakthrough is not yet widely used. ABI Research analyst Michael Morgan said, smart mobile phone battery to make a breakthrough involves a lot of technology, while these technologies are related, each technology must wait for other related technology.

Thus, in the enjoyment of smart phones faster, more feature-rich at the same time, within a period of time, smart cell phone users still have to endure the pain can not be sustained. And if this situation does not improve as quickly as possible, then perhaps the development of the smart phone industry, a significant impact.

Paper battery is not only efficient but economic and environmental

Monday, December 28th, 2009

One day in the future, the production of batteries may be as simple as painting: when we need a battery, come up with “ink” drawing on paper of an on-line.

Stanford University scientists claim to have successfully developed a paper VGP-BPS2 battery - just to a special layer of silver coated carbon nano-ink on the paper! So, what is the carbon nano-silver ink it? Simply put, this is a mixture of three kinds of material, single-walled carbon nanotubes, silver nanowire film and ink. Among them, the former two used to form a “battery,” while the ink is used to the first two fixed on paper.

Scientists said that this paper has a high efficiency of the VGP-BPS2A battery, can achieve almost 10 times the notebook lithium batteries, but could be produced using ordinary paper, with low cost and lightweight characteristics, and therefore its application prospect is hard to imagine, for example said that it can solve the issue of troubled electric-powered vehicles until completely changed people’s lives.
